A big thank you to all those that attended the K-5 Family Dance last week, we had a fabulous turn out.  


We will not have school on Monday in honor of Martin Luther King Day.


MathCounts practice on Thursdays (23rd, 30th, and 6th) starting after school until 3:30.


In Sports News:

Boys’ basketball will play Vista on Wednesday, games start with 6th grade at 4pm, 7th at 5pm and 8th at 6pm.  The teams will travel to Evergreen on Thursday with a reversed playing time, our 8th grade will play at 4pm, 7th grade at 5pm, and 6th grade at 6pm.  We will hold our 6th grade tournament at SLS this weekend on Friday and Saturday.

We have a Parent Club Mtg on Monday at 2:45 in room 60.

 

Please join us on Thursday evening, beginning at 5:30, in the cafeteria for our annual K-3 Literacy Night.  We have a variety of activities for students to enjoy! A free book will be given to each K-3 student, complements of our local Shasta Dam Kiwanis.

 

8th grade parents please talk to your 8th grade student about the Promotion Policy Contract that was sent home a week ago to have signed and returned.  Please sign and return the form ASAP.

 

In an effort to reduce and to be more efficient, you will find our October Fridge News on our website at sls.gwusd.org.  Also, if you are a parent of a 4th through 8th grade student, you may find their California Assessment results by logging into your parent portal on AERIES.  Once logged in, choose the Test Scores drop down. If you have questions or need assistance in accessing this information, please contact our office at 275-7020.

 

It is WALK TO SCHOOL on Wednesdays for the entire month of October.  If you walk to school, make sure that you stop in the front office to get a ticket to enter into our end of the year drawing for a bike. 

 

We are still selling Riffle Raffle Tickets.   Please help by selling at least one ticket. Students that sell 10 or more tickets will be invited to a nacho party.  The proceeds from this fundraiser are used to support field trips and various activities on campus. We have had the top seller in the county for seven years running.  Keep it going! Sell those tickets!

-On Monday, Soccer and Volleyball will travel to Anderson and to Vista on Wednesday.

Volleyball B team and Soccer begins at 4pm

Volleyball A team will begin at 5pm

We will have an additional Soccer game this week to close out the season against Anderson at SLS on Thursday.  This is the make up game that was cancelled due to lightning. The game will begin at 4pm

4-8 Cross Country has a finals meet at Shasta College on Thursday beginning at 4.

K-3 Cross Country has their final meet at Grand Oaks on Friday beginning at 4.  

Stay tuned for try out information for girls’ basketball!
