At Shasta Lake School, we strive to educate the whole child. The responsibility of the school is to make the students feel safe, so students are able to learn in an environment that allows them to thrive and have the foundational skills to be on the track to be career and college ready. Our site is 1:1 with students and chromebooks. Teachers utilize the technology daily to connect students with curriculum. Every room has interactive technology, Promethean Boards or interactive televisions to enhance the learning experience.
In addition to the classroom, music, art, and physical education is provided to all T/K-5th grade students. These students are also offered the opportunity to participate in K-Kids, a community service club, cross-country, and 4/5 girls and boys basketball.
The 6-8 grade levels offer a variety of electives in addition to the five core classes of English, history, math, science, and physical education. The electives included are MakerSpace, Ubuntu, orchestra, band, Ram Buddies, a peer mentoring group, leadership, study hall, and intervention. There are a variety of athletics that are offered as well. We offer cross-country, soccer, volleyball, girls’ basketball, boys’ basketball, flag football, baseball, softball, and track to sixth through eighth grade students.
Our after-school program Students Achieving Incredible Success, SAILS, is available to students T/K through 8th from 2:15 to 6:00 pm. The students are able to receive homework help, exercise, and enrichment opportunities.
We regularly use rewards to support and encourage student success in a variety of ways. We use Hip, Hip, Hooray for a positive attendance incentive. We also have trimester academic awards, , student of the month, positive referrals, RAM bucks, and Accelerated Reader drawings.
